THE HANDMADE PHOTOGRAPH EXHIBIT
The Handmade Photograph is an exhibition taking you back in time, dedicated to historic photographic printing processes dating back to the 1800s. Featuring over 70 contemporary photographers, this exhibition shows a variety of handmade photographic prints made by using metal salts such as platinum, palladium, gold, silver, and chromium to make a photosensitive emulsion hand applied to fine art paper, glass, or metal. Processes included are Platinum Palladium, Kallitype, Salted Paper prints, VanDyke Brown, Gum Bichromate, Oil Prints, Tintypes, and several others.
The Handmade Photograph Exhibition demonstrates these processes reinterpreted by contemporary photographers. Some use these techniques very traditionally, with an in-camera negative and a straight print. Others use a digital negative with one (or even two) different historic photographic processes to make a print entirely unique and handmade.
The show will be on display from June 7 – July 27th.
