Gebert Contemporary is delighted to announce the exhibition opening of Bernd Haussmann: Mountains and Oceans at Gebert Contemporary. Mountains and Oceans opens Friday afternoon, November 27, 2009, with a reception from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. This exhibition continues a fascination the artist has with affects and exchanges that might take place between viewer and artwork within these subjective environments.
Haussmann writes about his intention: "It has always been my curiosity to explore life through art. Mountains and Oceans is about the physical world and about abstract space, a geographical place and a dream. It is about myth and science, about the natural environment and the human existence. It is about a longing for space and light and a metaphor for the cycle of life."
In Mountains and Oceans, Haussmann’s seductive use of oil and mixed media is intoxicating in these newly created suites of intimate atmospheric paintings. These subjective environments reference places and spaces that are precious and alluring for the viewer, a kind of Shangri-La for the explorer in all of us. Gebert Contemporary joins Bernd Haussmann in this festive season of exploration and celebration.
